Direct to Checkout is a CTA (call-to-action) option that sends shoppers straight to Shopify checkout instead of adding the product to their cart first. When a shopper clicks the CTA button on your landing page, they bypass the cart entirely and land directly on the Shopify checkout page with the product ready to purchase.
This option is available on all subscription tiers for Shopify stores.
Why Use Direct to Checkout
The standard Auware CTA adds the product to the shopper’s cart, which then requires them to navigate to checkout on their own. While this works well for stores where customers often add multiple items, it introduces an extra step between clicking the button and completing the purchase. Every extra step in the checkout flow is a potential drop-off point.
Direct to Checkout removes that friction. It is especially effective for single-product campaigns where the goal is to get the shopper from the landing page to a completed purchase as quickly as possible. If your landing page is promoting one specific product and you want the fastest possible path to conversion, Direct to Checkout is the right choice.
How It Works
In the campaign wizard at the Review and Publish step, you can select “Direct to Checkout” as your CTA type. When published, the CTA button sends the shopper directly to Shopify checkout with the selected product variant and quantity already loaded.
If your campaign includes a discount code, it is automatically appended to the checkout URL so the discount is applied before the shopper even sees the checkout page. This means the shopper sees the discounted price immediately, which can reduce hesitation and abandoned checkouts.
Important Notes
- Direct to Checkout is available for Shopify stores only. Buyist stores use a different checkout flow.
- The standard “Add to Cart” CTA remains available if you prefer the traditional cart experience.
- Direct to Checkout works with all landing page formats and layouts.
